During DCSD Express Check-In Registration, please consider saying “YES” to photo/media permissions for your American Academy student by leaving all check boxes UNCHECKED in the Media Consent section.
We often like to show parents what's going on inside the school, and we like to brag on kiddos if they do something great (or if they just look super cute at a class party). Here are the three options:
1. BEST OPTION = Leave all boxes unchecked and allow fun (and only for good) photos of your student(s).
2. MEDIA BLACKOUT = NO MEDIA, NO YEARBOOK.
This option is extreme and rare unless your family has special circumstances. If you check this box, we will not be able to publish your student’s photo or information anywhere for any reason, online or on paper INCLUDING IN THE SCHOOL YEARBOOK.
3. INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA = NON-ISSUE AT AMERICAN ACADEMY
This one is a non-issue. We don’t allow any of our students to use unsecured digital or social media in lessons for any reason, whether you check this box or not.
4. MEDIA COVERAGE = NO MEDIA, YES YEARBOOK.
If you do NOT want your student to be in any media, but you DO want them in the school yearbook, check this box. But please know that 99% of the time we are just using group photos and no names, so your student more than likely will not "stand out" in our photos.
Below: By leaving all three boxes UNCHECKED, you give American Academy permission to publish the student's basic information (image and rarely name) in the school year book, newspaper announcements, school social media, and on the school website.

Again, please consider leaving all check boxes UNCHECKED in the Media Consent section.
If you have any questions about media consent, please don't hesitate to ask. This is your best opportunity to allow American Academy to include YOUR student in OUR good news! We will absolutely respect your choices, whatever you decide. But we also hope this helps to clarify the outcomes of those choices, and that you'll consider saying "YES" (by not checking media consent check boxes) if you can.
