Dear Middle School Parents,

 

I hope you are doing well and were able to take some time to enjoy the solar eclipse yesterday.

 

Middle School Party

Friday, April 12th

This coming Friday, our wonderful PTO Room Parents will host our second middle school party during lunch. Students MUST bring a lunch from home or get a hot lunch as lunch will not be provided as part of the party. Students will receive a dessert bar of vanilla ice cream and candy toppings.

Again, lunch will not be provided as part of the party and students must bring a lunch from home or get a hot lunch from the school.

 

Trimester 3 Conferences

Thursday, April 18th 4:30 – 6:00 pm

Our final round of conferences is here. As with previous conferences, we ask that you only sign up for one conference time. Please do not sign up for a conference with each of your child’s teachers.

***Teachers will not be able to share your child’s ability group placement for next year. We have not completed the necessary end-of-year testing which helps determine ability group placements***

Please visit the Middle School Webpage to sign up for a conference time. Conference sign-ups will close on Monday, April 15th at 4 pm to allow our teachers time to prepare for your conference.

 

Harlem Wizards Game

Wednesday, April 24th 7:00 – 9:00 PM

The Harlem Wizards are coming to town, and our entire American Academy community is invited to join the fun. You won't want to miss this school-wide fundraising event, where the Wizards will take on your beloved American Academy teachers and staff.

Come see AAMB staff members like Mr. Wilson, Ms. Bauer, Ms. Mercy, Ms. Whittaker, Ms. Hunt, Ms. Winder, Ms. Emerson, Ms. Redder, Ms. Glick, Ms. Fenton, and Ms. Bambury take on the world-famous Harlem Wizards.

Middle School Spirit Week

April 22-26

Leading up to our spring dance we will, once again, have optional spirit days for middle school students to participate in. Students must pay $1 to participate each day. Dress of Choice guidelines must be followed for all spirit days. We hope your student will join in on the fun!

 

Monday: Monochrome Monday (or Schoolwide Dress of Choice if our campus meets or exceeds a 70% response rate for the Parent Survey- see email from the AA Board of Directors from this morning)

Tuesday: Tacky Tuesday- mismatched attire

Wednesday: Sports Attire with Uniform Bottoms (get pumped before the Harlem Wizards game!)

Thursday: Dress like a Teacher

Friday: PJ Day

 

Spring Middle School Dance

Friday, April 26th 5:30 - 7:30 pm

The Spring Middle School Dance is just around the corner and we need your help to make the Enchanted Forest Dance a success! We are looking for decoration, drink, and sweets donations, as well as a few volunteers. We appreciate your generosity! Sign Up for Donations

Theme: Enchanted Forest

 

Dress: Formal

 

Presale Options:  We will be doing presale tickets at lunch (cash only) Starting Wednesday the 17th to Wednesday the 24th.

Option 1: $10 Admission and Meal Deal – includes any 3 food items (pizza, drink, popcorn, and sweets)

Option 2: $8 Admission Only

 

Purchase at the Dance:

$12 Admission only

Any single food item will be $1 and money will be taken at the check-in table.

 

As with all dances, only current AAMB middle school students are allowed to attend. Former students and guests are not allowed due to safety and security reasons. Students must stay in the building at all times and any behavior deemed unsafe will result in a call home and parents having to pick up their child early with no refund.

 

Spring Family Fun-Draiser

Friday, May 10th 5:30 – 8:30 PM

This family-friendly event will take place at the school on Friday, May 10th from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. An online auction will be active the week before the event and a live auction will be held at the event. Both will raise money for new playground and STEM equipment

 

Included in your family ticket: NerfTurf battles, bouncy houses (weather permitting), adult auction with live auctioneer, kids auction with live auctioneer (each student will get some DollarBucks to use), silent disco, and HipPop gelato bars. Tacos Por Dias food truck, and another food truck will be onsite for you to purchase dinner.
